S.O.S ----------------------------------------------------------------------- What is the task of a feminist? It can be answered on three levels: personal, social, and ultimate. 1. The pesonal task of a femists is to educate herself of the predicaments of women. Many people have found the reasons of the ineqlity between the status of men and women in the structure of sexist soceity and the chauvinistic mentality of men. But they forgot to recognize the effects of the social structure and male mentality on the psychology of females. The effect was the creation of an infereority complex in women called [fill in blank]. This term applies to a condition in which the victim of opporession develops a mentality which internalizes the streotype of the victim on him/herself. In case of sexist ideas, women develop an inferiority complex. This inferiority complex had been in history for many many years to leave its mark even on a strong feminist. Thereofore a feminist have to educate herslef to rid herself of this inferiority complex. A feminist should educate herslef before she could educate other people. 2. The social task of a feminist is to educate people arund her about the predicament of women in the world: the disadvantage of women in job market, the fear women feel at the possibility of the use of phisical force by men, overall the overt and subtle sexism which is full in our society. Quite often many well-meaning people make sexist remarks withiout recognizing their being sexist remarks. It's becuase people have been socialized in a sexist way for many centries. So a femisnit should educate the society afetr educating herslef. 3. But the ultimate task of a feminist is to "marry a conservative redneck." Quite often a conservative political(social) movement is most ardently supported by rednecks. They are easy to be mobilized into a certain conservative cause becasue of their ignorance and unstable emotion. The fascism of Nazi Germany, Imperial Japanese Army were most ardently supported by the country folks, a redneck type. So if you want to stop the society being run in a sexist way, you have to attck the basis of the conservative and sexist political, social and cultural force: rednecks. The best way to attack rednecks is not through phisical force or material benefit. More often than not, rednecks have realtively strong phisical power. They ofetn do not care so much about material comfort. Relatively they can withstand better the material hardship. The only weak point of these rednecks is their emotion, especially the romantic emotion. So marry the redneck and subdue him with your power of love. That's the ultimate task of a feminist. Marrying a reneck has double(or sometimes triple or quatriple) benefits in moving the society into a more eqitable one. If a feminist bears a child and educates the child in a non-sexist way, the contribution of a feminist to the feminist casue is doublefold. If the feminist bears two children, then it becomes triple benefit. So feminist of the world, find and marry rednecks! Devote yourself to the feminist casue!!
