The original title was meant to be This confrntation of two different
cultures...
Which I specifically direct to Mary, who is a Chinese - American, and some of
the rest hard core Koreans who are against homosexuality.
Certainly, Koreans were brought up to think conservatively(really?!!) and
this trend is fading anyway... BUT I am not here to vote in favor of
homosexuality or say that Mary has wrong perspective about homosexuality.
I also have my own opinion on this issue, but that is not so important right
now. What I want Mary to understand is that... basicall we were all brought
up to value certain things in life... If the American society think that it
is a precious thing to be able to express one's true thoughts and feelings in
a society, Koreans value(at least the old Koreans) following the trends of
their ancestors and carry on the teachings of the old wisemen. To an American
kid's perspective of view, this can sound VERY silly indeed! However that
kiod does not realise how silly he looks to those so called conservative
Koreans. THE ultimate truth about who is absolutely right OR who is
absolutely wrong... I think it is up to GOD to judge, if he exists!
So, the bottom line is that... everyone has his or her opinion. One's opinion
could convince another and let that person follow. BUT, NOBODY should say
"Hey, you ARE wrong!"
ps: Ms. Mary , although I heard that you are an American student at UIUC, you
sound like someone who came from the mainland China not so long ago... :) Not
your ideas... but your English!!!
No hard feelings... just curious!
