When the pastor of my church asked me to fold "joo-bo"s last week, I didn't
do it. I pretended to myself that I forgot, well, he definately forgot, but I
didn't actually forget of course. I couldn't find any reason why not each
people just pick up their own joobo and fold it in half. Frankly , perhaps, I
thought that was obsolete request. even he is the pastor.
Today, I met an Elder of my church at church. And he was folding joobo! So
I was about to express how stupid it is to fold them one by one by one person
instead of letting each person do that for his/her own copy, u know... Before
I began a word (I thank God that I didn't tell him any of *my* stupid
thought), he told me he came to church on Saturday to check if hymn numbers
in the board is correct or not and also take care of other stuffs. He just
does it by himself not to blame other people not doing it. And he said he is
folding joobo because he wants to *serve* people at church. He is absolutely
right. I was ashamed.. That is a little thing I can do. I was thinking how
inefficient it is to use human labor (i assumed my labor hour should be high
if I get paid since i am in grad school) for that kind of mere simple
little tiny job. nah.... I forgot one great thing. to serve people. all in
all, the elder is a doctor. In the matter of money, his work hour should be
way way higher than mine....
He came to the states even before I was born. Writing this, I
get to miss my grandfather in Korea. I used to be afraid of him, since he
got this thick black eyebrow. :) Last time I saw him was 2 years ago, he
looked weak. I am visiting him this summer. I am gonna give him a big hug.
