Sometimes when you read a posting, the writer seems to have captured the
feelings that you were, or are, currently experiencing. SOS' posting
rang a familar(I wish that I could spell(chord with me tonight.
Shortly after coming to Korea, my ex-girlfriend back in the states broke
off our very troubled relationship, a relationship that I thought was on the
mend. However, when I made the jump across the big puddle to Korea, I guess
she concluded that my priorities lay somewhere ahead of her(maybe they did,
but I like to think that they didn't).
Anyway, it's sad how you can talk to someone who once supposedly loved you
and you don't find any hint of affection in their voice. Just like SOS
revealed, They speak formally. I can remember when we were so casual, yet,
it was a respectful casualness. Now, she speaks to me with the warmth of a
used-car salesman. I 'telnet' back to my unix account at our university in
the states, and I call-up the 'users function to she if she is on-line, and,
she is, and I remember old-times when no more than 5 seconds would go by when
she would 'bitnet' me if we were both on-line, now, the time endlessly passes
and is only nothingness.
Her voice; something that I lived to hear, something that brought me instant
joy even at 4 in the morning. These days, I'm lucky to get in 3 words before
she tells me that she has to go because of something she has forgotten to do.
on closer examination it seems it is only 'I'that she has forgotten.
Well, sorry to boar all of you to tears with the failings of Tim's past love
life. I sometimes am reminded that no matter how hard we try to hide from
our past, by trying to forget, we are often reminded of it anyway. In this
case I was reminded, albeit painfully, by a beautiful, tenderly written,
posting by SOS.
Thinking of her reminds me a Lennon & McCartney song entitled:For No One
Your day breaks, your mind aches,
you find that all her words of kindness linger on
when she no longer needs you
She wakes up, she makes up
she takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
she no longer needs you
You want her, you need her
and yet, you don't believe her when she says her love is dead
you think she needs you.
and in her eyes, you see nothing
no sign of love behind the tears, cried for no one
a love that should've lasted years
You stay home, she goes out
she says that long ago she knew someone, but now he's gone
she doesn't need him
Your day breaks, your mind aches
there will be times when all the things she said will fill your head
you won't forget her
and in her eyes, you see nothing
no sign of love behind the tears, cried for no one
a love that should've lasted years
